May Brenner on Meeting Sydney Brenner
  May Brenner     Biography
Recorded: 14 Jun 2005

I saw Sydney, poor, poor man. He didn’t have a chance. I went all around everybody and said, I thought he was Afrikaans because he had a slight accent. And I said who is that untidy, short Afrikaans man who can talk like that? I want to meet him.

I was divorced and people offered me all sorts of introductions. I kept saying that I don’t want to. No, you don’t want to meet him. He doesn’t like girls, he’s very eccentric, he’s always busy with _and study and you don’t want to meet. You want to meet so and so, somebody else. But I knew I wanted to meet him and went to ask him if he could help me with my statistics because I was doing research on a certain psychological test. He should have run. He should have run away, but he didn’t!

May Brenner was married to Sydney Brenner from December 1952 until her death in January 2010. She was engaged in doing a Ph.D. in Psychology in London.
