Women in Science

Biological and cultural effects of gender on profession are highly debated. Women have been traditionally discriminated against in the sciences, but have made great progress in achieving professional respect and parity with men over the last fifty years, which coincides with the revolution in molecular biology.

Many female scientists have faced severe challenges throughout their careers due to unjust and discriminatory treatment. Others confront personal dilemmas in their careers with their decision to become mothers.
