Completed in 2012, the new Alfred D. Hershey Building, built to enhance Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Courses program, was rededicated on June 8, 2012. In his opening remarks at the ceremony, Bruce Stillman, CSHL President, confirmed that rededicating the building to Al Hershey continues to be relevant today since Hershey’s legacy includes his belief in the importance of developing methods. Of the CSHL Courses program, Dr. Stillman said, "The propagation of the latest techniques, technologies, and lab methods is central to the success of biology for scientists everywhere, at every stage of career development." The new building includes a seminar room, a quantitative biology teaching laboratory, and the Mark J. Zoller Teaching Laboratory. It is also home to two of the ten Cancer Center shared resources at CSHL: the Microscopy facility and the Gordon Sato Flow Cytometry Laboratory.
