The dedication ceremony for the new plant genetics laboratory was held on October 25, 1987, in Grace Auditorium. The speakers included Barbara McClintock, James Watson, John Cairns, and Bayard Clarkson. Barbara McClintock thanked Walter Page, who was in attendance, by saying, “...I am grateful that the study of plant genetics has started up again at CSHL and am grateful to Walter Page for helping to keep this research going” (The Long Island Newspaper, October 29, 1987).
