Arthur W. Page was an active and ardent supporter of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, living at “County Line Farm” in nearby Huntington, NY. In 1924, Arthur was one of the founding members of the Long Island Biological Association (LIBA) which was responsible for the operation of the Lab until 1962. He continued as a board member for 34 years and was LIBA’s president for 13 years. The impact of Arthur’s leadership during some of the Lab’s most difficult years, particularly during the Great Depression, was such that without it, “…the Laboratory could not have survived seemingly insuperable problems” (Page Lab Dedication booklet, Oct 25, 1987).
