On June 8, 2001, CSHL rededicated a facility doubled in size by the completion of the Biomedia addition, which included a 104-seat auditorium.

The ceremony honored the generosity of Charles Dolan, Cablevision Chairman/CEO, and Helen Dolan, member of the original trustee committee. The keynote address was given by Dr. Peter Bruns, Vice President of Grants and Special Programs of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

The event also marked the unveiling of a large-scale portrait of Charles and Helen Dolan in the formal entrance to the Biomedia Addition. The impressionist painting was created by Lewis Miller, an Australian artist.
