The completion of the 8000-square-foot structure in Spring 2001 doubled the facility and provided the physical infrastructure needed to substantially increase the DNALC’s impact on modern biology education. The addition's exterior brick façade and Georgian details blend perfectly with the existing building. The structure nestles into the hillside, so the second-floor offices open directly onto the woody glade. Prominent on the lower level is the large space occupied by a teaching laboratory—directly in line with two other labs in the original building. It includes an octagonal computer lab with two tiers of glass-countered workspaces.
