The DNA Learning Center opened in 1988 in a Georgian-style former schoolhouse built in 1925 on the site of the first East Side School, which had been built in 1845. The 1925 schoolhouse, the first modern elementary school in the village, was located at 334 Main Street in the village of Cold Spring Harbor. New York architectural firm Peabody, Williamson & Brown designed the building’s symmetrical brick facade with details such as dentil moldings and quoins.
