Working in borrowed space in Richard Robert’s lab, Dave Micklos and postdoctoral fellow Greg Freyer created a set of lab experiences called Recombinant DNA for Beginners, later renamed DNA Science, which introduced teachers to the science behind the biotechnology revolution. The Laboratory bought and equipped the first two Vector Vans using a grant from Citibank, N.A., and in the summer of 1986, they held Vector workshops in 6 U.S. cities.
