Laboratory Rented Half-House, 1972

Jane Joralemon Davenport was the daughter of Charles B. Davenport, longtime director of the Biological Laboratory at Cold Spring Harbor, 1898-1924. Her first husband was Reginald Gordon Harris, who was director of the Lab, 1924-1936. Some years after Harris's sudden and tragic death at age 37, she married James A. de Tomasi. When the laboratory first rented the waterfront "half-house" on the east side of Bungtown Road, it belonged to Jane Davenport Harris de Tomasi.
