In October 1997, the shift of the Facilities Department to the Richards Building and Grounds Facility complex was commemorated. Tributes were offered to Jack Richards by Arthur Brings, Director of Facilities, Raymond Gesteland, former Assistant Director of CSHL, contractors Arthur Herman and George Feraco, Sr., and architect James Childress of Centerbrook. Lastly, James Watson, Ph.D., President CSHL, spoke before the grand party began in the south barn, supplemented by the Essex Corinthian Jazz Band.
