In 1975, the Jones Building was remodeled to house a new neuroscience laboratory. The wooden cubicles were replaced with aluminum ones, and an additional wing was added to allow for a refrigerated storage area. The renovation of the Jones Building won a coveted Honor Award for Continued Use from the American Institute of Architects in 1981. In the 1980s, the Jones Laboratory was converted for use as a neuroscience laboratory with the installation of vibration-free "pods."
