Mark Adams attended the phage course at CSHL in 1946 as a student and returned in 1947 as a co-instructor with Max Delbrück. The following year he led the course solo and continued as an instructor until 1954. Some of the most prominent names in molecular biology were among his students: Seymour Benzer, Gunther Stent, and Norton Zinder.
