A teaching laboratory was built to accommodate the summer courses: “Comparative Anatomy” and “Systematic and Field Botany.” A fire destroyed the whaling era building donated by the Jones family in which the courses had been taught. The new building provided laboratories and classrooms for students and offices for instructors.
