The cabins were built of logs that were both stained and pickled to lighten the interiors and even out the wood tones. From the 1991 Annual Report, "Water, electricity, gas, and telephone systems were installed by the different Buildings and Grounds trades. Interconnecting boardwalks, including built-in benches and a small community area with a telephone, were built between the cabins."
