In the Laboratory’s centennial year, 1990, 14 small meetings and workshops were held at Banbury Center. In the 1995 Annual Report the Banbury Center’s Director, Jan Witkowski, noted, "...Banbury Center’s role - promoting research by providing a quiet haven where small groups of scientists can meet - has become even more important in this period of overwhelming information dissemination." Banbury has been known for meetings on the environment, cancer prevention, and the genetics of Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, manic depression, and muscular dystrophy. The CSHL LabDish blog of October 2016 reported that more Banbury meetings have focused on Lyme than any other topic.
