Using grant money from the National Science Foundation, the CSHL completed the Upland Farms Genetics Field Experimental Station, where there are 11 acres of fields and farm buildings. The garage was changed into a cytogenetics laboratory for the microscopic examination and storage of corn kernels. In 1985, Jonathan Wood was the farm manager. In 2022, Timothy Mulligan is Senior Farm Manager.
