On June 12, 1999, the David and Fanny Luke Building was dedicated. David L. Luke completed a more than 12-year tenure on the CSHL Board of Trustees, retired as Chairman of the Board, was elected Honorary Trustee, and finally, agreed to serve as chair of the campaign to endow the Watson School.

The new building reflects the past and perpetuation of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
