Although it was purchased at the bargain basement price of $50.00, the 1931 Long Island Biological Association Women’s Auxiliary Board, led by Mrs. Acosta Nichols, spent $3000 renovating and furnishing housing for the Lab, much of which was allocated to the Firehouse. The Firehouse then had 11 furnished rentable summer rooms.
