As a result of the creation of the position of President of the Laboratory for Dr. James Watson, on January 1, 1995, Dr. Bruce Stillman assumed the directorship. In late spring of 1995, he completed his move into Airslie.

Airslie was built in traditional Federal style and underwent renovation in 1974. In 1994, the exterior was repainted to its original cream color with dark red trim. Inside, the house was filled with traditional country furniture and sunlight from large bay windows.
