On May 2, 1981, Charles Robertson, who had maintained an interest in the new uses of his family home, passed away.

Not long after, on July 19, 1981, a landmark in the development of the Banbury Center passed with the dedication of the 16-bedroom guest house, Sammis Hall. The ceremonies were held under a tent on the lawn next to the deck of the Banbury Meeting House. Among those who attended were Mr. Robertson's sister, Mrs. Donald Rose, and other family members, such as Mr. and Mrs. William Robertson and Dr. and Mrs. Walter Meier.
