As an integral part of the landscaped hillside by Grace Auditorium, a gazebo was built in 1986. A pump-house copper roof was donated by the Henry C. Taylor Estate in nearby Lloyd Harbor. It was stored on the CSHL grounds until the laboratory carpenters completed the gazebo's structure and foundation. Eventually, the roof was raised into position and the structure was painted.
