The laboratory of Maurice Wilkins (1916-) at Kings College in London also was studying the structure of DNA in the early 1950s. Researchers there took an experimental approach to the problem, looking at x-ray diffraction images of DNA. Wilkins shared the 1962 Nobel Prize with Watson and Crick.
