I knew John Cairns but I did not know John when he was at Cold Spring Harbor. I got to know John mostly after he came to Boston, to Harvard and then I knew him quite well and spent pleasant evenings and meals at his house. I didn't know him in his Cold Spring Harbor days, although I have heard him talk about his Cold Spring Harbor days.
