The Opening of an exhibition on Calvin Bridges (1889-1938) will be held at the Library on Wednesday, May 30th, from 3:00 to 5:00pm. Bridges, a renowned geneticist, was part of the famous fly room of Thomas Hunt Morgan at Columbia University along with Alfred Sturtevant and H.J. Muller. In 1934, Bridges was a founder of the Drosophila Information Service (DIS) with Milislav Demerec, Director of the Carnegie Institution’s Department of Genetics and Cold Spring Harbor at that time. The exhibit contains photographs of Bridges with his family and colleagues and scientific artifacts including a microscope lamp from the Columbia fly room, and more. The exhibit was curated by Judith Cuddihy, recipient of the CSHL Sydney Brenner Scholarship.
