Michael Botchan - Biography

Michael Botchan

Michael Botchan, serves as Professor and Co-chair Department of Molecular and Cell Biology University of California, Berkeley. He received his B.A in biology from New York University (1967), Ph.D. in biophysics from University of California (1972). He did his postdoctoral work at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (1972-74). He was Senior Scientist at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory from 1974 to 1980.

His major research interest are DNA virus transformation, eukaryotic DNA replication and transcription and recombination in somatic cells. He focuses on the mechanism and regulation of the initiation of DNA replication and gene expression in eukaryotes.

Michael Botchan is a Fellow of American Academy of Arts & Science and a member of American Cancer Society.
