eTBLAST - new search engine for PubMed
Published by Angela Cornwell February 9th, 2006 in SearchingeTBLAST is a new, free search engine developed by the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. eTBLAST allows the user to input an entire abstract of text for searching the MEDLINE database. It will extract keywords from the submitted abstract and return similar abstracts ranked by weight. An advanced search option allows the user to give weight to particular keywords.
Results include:
- a listing of journals most appropriate for publishing the abstract submitted
- an expert’s list containing most published authors
- an historical perspective - showing number of articles published each year
The simple search takes some minutes, the advanced search results are emailed to the user.
The results provide a link back to the MEDLINE abstract, where the library’s SFX FindIt! button will link to the full-text, if available.
