It was while lunching at Osterhout with the Watsons that many important discussions, which affected the future of the lab, took place. Even after the Watsons moved out, events continued to be held at the cottage to take advantage of the harbor views seen from the east side of Osterhout. During the mild winter of 1994, friends of the lab were invited to the cottage for a holiday celebration. A five-piece band provided entertainment on the lawn.
